In Onix’s cave, you will find Clay blocks that can be broken with Rock Smash, which then gives you Squishy Clay.
This is a distinction that can be easy to misread in Pokopia; In block form, this is standard Clay, but it becomes Squishy Claw when broken down and added to your inventory.
After that, Bleak Beach (which you can also unlock once your Trainer level becomes ‘Great’ after meeting Kyogre) is the best standard place to farm Squishy Clay, as there are far more Clay blocks around the area.
On the other hand, you can get even more Squishy Clay in Pokémon Pokopia when you access Ocean Dream Island; to do this, though, you need the Pikachu Poke Doll, which is a random loot drop in Bleak Bleach.

Once you have Squishy Clay, give it to a Pokémon with the Burn specialty, and it will be turned into Brick; you just need to talk to a Pokémon like Charmander, have them look at the Squishy Clay, select the “make me some bricks” option, and select how many units you want.
Each piece of Squishy Clay gives you two Bricks, which makes getting enough for recipes like the Stone Fireplace, Brick Steps, and Brick Wall all the easier once you’ve got a good farming route set up.
