Ganguly still believes Shami should be the second-choice bowler along with Jasprit Bumrah.

Sourav Ganguly was asked ‘When you watch a Mohammed Shami these days, sport is all about joy. How much joy do these people give you?’ Ganguly replied, “You know, all of them. It’s amazing. Sourav said, “I’m so happy to hear that he wants to keep playing Ranji Trophy. I know it’s going to be very hard for him because he’s a fast bowler, but I hope he continues to do that for our state. There’s nothing better than watching Mohammed Shami run in with the new ball.”
“I still think he should play for India, and hopefully that chance will come. Because he’s so good — when you see the ball coming out with the seam upright, not moving an inch on either side, it’s a treat to watch.”
“So, good luck to him for what he has achieved as a player and as a fast bowler for India. I still feel he has a couple of seasons left. When I met him today, I told him that he looks as fit as ever. It’s great to see him because when you keep bowling for 4–5 months, you naturally become fit.”
