For example, under Artūras Karnišovas, there was a clear identity, whether you agreed with it or not. He built his reputation as the guy who found a three-time MVP in the second round, and ever since, he’s been chasing that same high.
You saw it with Ayo Dosunmu. You saw it with Leonard Miller. Every deadline move, every fire sale, it always circled back to second-round picks.
At some point, it became a meme. But at the same time, it was consistent. It was what he believed in.
The problem? That philosophy didn’t translate the same way in the first round.

With additional picks, you can target positional needs without forcing it at the top. Bigs like Hannes Steinbach, Aday Mara, or Patrick Ngongba. Players who fill gaps, size, defense, and interior presence.
Then in the second round, you take swings. Big men, pesky defenders, high-effort players, shooting specialists, guys who can carve out roles and outperform their draft slot.
