Earlier in the week, SwimSwam reported on the distribution of domestic vs international points from each of the top ten men’s teams at the 2026 NCAA DI Championships. Now, we have done the same for the women’s meet. See the chart below to get insight into the spread among the most high-profile women’s team in the NCAA. Like in the men’s formula, athletes who were raised in the U.S. but represent another flag are counted as international.
The University of Florida, led by decorated coach Anthony Nesty, holds the highest international swimmer points percentage on both the men’s and women’s side. Over two thirds of the Gator women’s points came from abroad recruits Anita Bottazzo and Julie Brousseau. The University of Louisville came in a close second with just under 60% internationally, with versatile Anastasia Gorbenko leading the charge for the Cardinal women.
The other lady Cardinals, those at Stanford, got all of their swim points from domestic recruits. Half of the top ten teams landed somewhere in the 20-30% international range.
Comparing numbers across the genders shows that international swimmers play a larger role across top teams in the men’s meet compared to the women’s meet. International women accounted for 27.8% of the total individual points across the top ten’s women’s teams, over ten percentage points fewer than the 38% of men’s points in the top ten.
Additionally, scoring power is consolidated more in the women’s top ten than the men’s. The top ten female teams accounted for 1,635 individual points, eclipsing the 1,470 number among the top ten men.
