VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – On Saturday, a 12-year-old was arrested after a motorcyclist was assaulted by a group of almost 200 juveniles on bikes and e-bikes at the intersection of Mills Road and Main Street.
On April 4, a group of nearly 200 juveniles on bicycles and e-bikes were traveling in several large groups from Victoria Avenue to the area around Mills Road and Main Street stated a press release Saturday from the Ventura Police Department.
According to Ventura Police, while stopped at a red light, the group of juveniles swarmed around a motorcyclist and he fell off of his motorcycle and onto the roadway.
While laying in the roadway, multiple juveniles kicked and punched the motorcyclist before fleeing the scene detailed the Ventura Police Department.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries shared the Ventura Police Department.
Thanks to alert witnesses, investigators were able to identify one of the involved juveniles and began to track the larger groups while waiting for a chance to safely take the identified juvenile into custody explained the Ventura Police Department.
Officers later blocked traffic, separated the identified juvenile from the larger group, and took him into custody without further incident noted the Ventura Police Department.
The juvenile, identified as a 12-year-old Oxnard resident, was booked into Juvenile Hall on a felony assault charge shared the Ventura Police Department.
