Police are investigating a home invasion in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood after a young woman said she fought a man who tried to enter her apartment.
The incident happened just after midnight Friday in the 4200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to authorities.
There, a 23-year-old woman said she was inside her apartment when she saw a man she didn’t know entering through her front door. The woman attempted to fight the man off before he struck her in the head and fled the scene.
Police said the woman suffered a laceration to her head, but refused medical treatment at the scene.
A 36-year-old man was taken into custody nearby in connection with the incident, but details on the arrest weren’t immediately clear. Police said charges were pending in the case.
