Lauren Conrad’s Comments About Parenting and Stepping Out of the Spotlight Are Dividing Fans

With the Laguna Beach reunion on the horizon, Lauren Conrad and the rest of the gang are back in the spotlight again. And if you were wondering what LC has been up to in the past few decades, the reality star/designer opened up to People, sharing her thoughts on stepping out of the spotlight, parenting, and more.

Okay, so LC didn’t exactly disappear from the public eye the way co-stars Jessica Smith (prior to the reunion, the mom was living her best life in Texas) and Dieter Schmitz (he traded reality TV for a career in hospitality and hotel management) did. Conrad famously transitioned from high school star to budding fashionista on MTV’s The Hills, launched her LC Lauren Conrad clothing line for Kohl’s, and now pretty much runs a mini lifestyle empire.

Eventually, Conrad traded late nights at Les Deux for late-night diaper changes. She married her husband, lawyer and former musician, William Tell, in 2014. The couple welcomed their first son, Liam, in 2017 and had another child, Charlie, two years later in 2019. According to LC’s latest interview, she left the spotlight and moved to her hometown four years ago, telling People, “Nobody cares who I am here.”

Of course, LC didn’t only share her decision to move out of the public eye in her new interview. The mom of two also opened up about parenting her boys, praising her husband’s skills. Conrad shared with People, “He’s so engaged with our kids…He’s the parent who does funny voices when her reads stories, he coaches every team they’re on. It’s been really fun to parent together.” The reality star also talked about how lucky she feels to raise her children, “in the same space I grew up. It’s a really special place.”

Conrad (and her interview) got plenty of praise online. Fans flocked to People’s Instagram page, writing comments like, “We miss you, LC,” “Exactly why I love you. You always stay true to yourself and your friends,” and, “One of the few that came out of reality television thriving and still being grounded and humble. Go LC!”

Even though most of the comments were over-the-top raves in support of LC, some weren’t as positive. One commenter pointed out that she wasn’t the only Laguna Beach alum to leave the limelight, “I mean tbh the whole cast literally stepped away from fame. I think they’ve all had the privilege of raising their families away from fame and the spotlight. That’s what makes the reunion so much more meaningful and special for the fans.” Another commenter took things a step further and wrote, “People with a “normal” life don’t do magazine covers.”

Whether Laguna Beach fans think she left fame behind or not, it’s clear that everyone is more than ready for the April 10 reunion!
