A new name has entered sports coverage in the UK. HBO Max, one of America's biggest streaming services, has finally crossed the pond and launched at the end of March.
The new arrival boasts a wide catalogue of films, highly-rated TV shows like Game of Thrones and The Pitt, and will, of course, be the home of the much-anticipated Harry Potter reboot, but sports fans need to be aware of its offerings as well.
That's because, from launch on Thursday 26 March, HBO Max will be the new streaming home of TNT Sports, which has been streamed via discovery+ since the BT Group and Warner Bros. Discovery came together to set up the new venture in 2023.
The broadcaster is the home of a wide range of events, including live Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, PREM Rugby, UFC, Boxing, Snooker, MotoGP and more.
discovery+ is not going anywhere but will shift to focus fully on its entertainment and documentary offerings.
While the TNT Sports output is not changing as a result of the arrival of HBO Max – we shouldn't expect to see coverage of Quidditch or jousting popping up any time soon – the move has, naturally, raised questions among viewers.
Radio Times explains how to watch TNT Sports on HBO Max after the changeover from discovery+.
