A new Chicago Bears stadium update just dropped courtesy of Kevin Warren.
Barroom Network’s Aldo Gandia shares a video clipped (via Twitter/X) of the Bears president and CEO that was snipped from an interview on NBC Sports with Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio:

A transcription of some highlights from what Bears President Kevin Warren had to say:
THE LATEST ON INDIANA: “Here’s where we are. We have the legislation passed in Indiana. And they’ve been a great partner to work with. We are going through legitimate due diligence. Because we have been working through traffic and construction items, transportation, and all of those different things. Now, it’s progressing right on pace.” A TENTATIVE DEADLINE FOR A BEARS STADIUM PROJECT: “We don’t have a set deadline, but I am confident that sometime this spring-slash-summer we’ll know. I mean, we have to know. Because we would have completed the due diligence in Indiana and we’ll see what happens in Illinois. Fortunately, the good thing about it is both of those sites are great locations because our focus is on our fans.” ADDRESSING A QUESTION ABOUT DOWNTOWN CHICAGO AS A BEARS STADIUM OPTION: “That’s a great question. But we strongly believe the only site in the state of Illinois, Cook County, is Arlington Heights. Because when you see that property, having 326 acres with the train station there, the things we would be able to do, there are some great sites. We talked a couple of years ago about doing something at the Museum Campus. There was not an appetite at that time. There are some other sites that just don’t fit. And it’s imperative that you want to make sure that you have an opportunity to do a surrounding mixed-use development wherever you build your stadium. So you have to have that space to be able to do it.” Soldier Field before a preseason game in August 2022 | Photo credit: Luis C. MedinaOn the surface, the main takeaway here is that the Bears stadium race is down to two contestants — one in suburban Arlington Heights and the other in Northwest Indiana. However, President Kevin Warren isn’t even one calendar year removed from saying in an interview that the team was down to choosing between Arlington Park and a spot in downtown Chicago.
Do I want to believe Warren when he says the team has whittled its options down to two locations for the next Bears stadium? Sure. The closer we get to the finish line, the happier Bears fans will be. But nothing suggests that I would be wise to take the president’s words for anything more than a grain of salt. There is some real “boy who cried wolf” energy when Warren speaks on the subject of the next Bears stadium, and I am not vibing with it.
I suppose the most notable nugget from Warren’s chat with the Pro Football Talk gang is that there is now an expectation that there will be some finality come later this spring or in the summer. This isn’t a hard deadline, but it is something that resembles a deadline. With that being said, I’m not putting too much weight on this pseudo deadline. After all, Warren promised shovels in the ground in 2025 and failed to come through and make that happen. So … why should I believe him now? Especially since he continues to dance around any specifics on the project.
So much of this feels like a waste of time and energy. Bears fans want two things: A winning team and a stadium they can be proud to call home. On the field, Head Coach Ben Johnson has the team making progress toward achieving Super Bowl excellence. But when it comes to the stadium situation, Bears President Kevin Warren has yet to deliver. And contrary to his musings, I struggle to see any areas in which this project is “progressing at a pace.”
At this point, the one thing we do know about the Bears stadium situation in March 2026 is that the home games this year will be played at Soldier Field. Other than that, this ordeal remains unresolved.
