Priscilla discussed the early days of their relationship with The Hollywood Reporter. "It was a different time. I lived in his world. I wanted to please him. I wanted to fit in. I wanted to have fun with him. I wanted to see what it was that he liked.”
After he left Germany, Priscilla's parents were said to have told her that her fling with Presley was over. However, after settling back into life in Memphis, Tennessee, he began calling her and soon, she visited Graceland.
By the time she was 17, Priscilla had moved into Presley’s home, beginning a relationship filled with love and laughter, but also marked by insecurity and Presley’s infidelities. PEOPLE Magazinereported in 2024 that Priscilla stated, "Whether he was going on tour or going to Palm Springs or Vegas, obviously I know there are other things going on as well."
"That made me realize that things go on. Listen, there was him and four or five of his guys who were always together, so they’re men, right? And they were all married and they were all fooling around," she continued.
"I mean, the opportunities were there constantly," Priscilla concluded. "Constantly. Even when he would go on the road in other states, they knew he was coming, and they were making offers. He was Elvis Presley, and every woman, every girl, went after him. I can see being him, how he would take it.”
Priscilla documented many of her feelings about that difficult time in an autobiography, Elvis and Me. This bestseller was made into a movie, Priscilla, in 2023.
Despite these relationship issues, the couple became engaged and married in May 1967. Nine months to the day of their marriage, they welcomed their only child, a daughter named Lisa Marie Presley.
