This is one way to start the week, having the Chicago Bulls take on the San Antonio Spurs on national television.
Also, some unreal games last night in the NCAA tournament. And a Michael Jordan interview that was, in my opinion, better than his “Michael Jordan: Insights to Excellence” series on NBC. Just an all-around happening Sunday.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.
© Scott Kinser-Imagn Images The Chicago Bulls have a big game tonight, not in a competitive sense, as they’ve already been eliminated from postseason play, but still a big one. They’re on national television in San Antonio, facing off against Victor Wembanyama and his San Antonio Spurs. Not only are the Bulls essentially going up against a 7’5″ demigod without a healthy big man, but that same giant is also in the midst of trying to steal Derrick Rose’s title as the youngest MVP in NBA history. And what better way to emphasize that case than a huge performance on national television, against the Bulls. As far as it goes for the Bulls, a loss still plays in favor of the bigger picture: securing a strong pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.Victor Wembanyama has shot to TOP SPOT on t.co/sXCeX5xzb7’s MVP ladder and could be on track to become the youngest MVP in NBA HISTORY ??If he wins, he’ll break the current record held by Derrick Rose, who was 22 years and 196 days old ? pic.twitter.com/gqbFb6lMHa
— Basketball Forever (@bballforever_) March 27, 2026 On the topic of the 2026 NBA Draft, last night saw two more teams punch their tickets to the Final Four while two others watched their dreams come to an end. In the first game of the night, the dominant one-seed Michigan absolutely dog-walked the Tennessee Volunteers, continuing their incredible season with a 33-point win. Yaxel Lendenborg is really making a case for a lottery selection in a loaded draft class, despite his less-than-ideal age. He finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal on 10-of-19 shooting—and might be the best player left in this tournament. There hasn’t been a team yet that’s even looked capable of slowing Michigan down, but they’ll face their toughest test in the Final Four against the Arizona Wildcats — the only other one-seed still standing.(1) MICHIGAN DOMINATES ?The Wolverines smother (6) Tennessee with a 95-62 win on the way to another #MFinalFour appearance ? #MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/a9TqzNa57t
— NCAA March Madness (@MarchMadnessMBB) March 29, 2026 On the other side of the bracket, and in what’s been the game of the tournament so far, the UConn Huskies took down Duke Blue Devils after pulling off one of the most historic comebacks in NCAA Tournament history, advancing to the Final Four. They erased a 19-point deficit and became the first team out of 135 to beat a one-seed that was up 15+ at halftime. That game was won on a clutch, game-winning shot by Braylor Mullins, who’s currently mocked around the range where the Bulls could be picking in 2026. This also potentially (likely) marked the final college game for Cameron Boozer, a projected top-three pick in the upcoming draft. He closed his Duke chapter with a 27-point, 8-rebound performance, and it’s hard to see him falling out of that top-three range no matter what happens in the Final Four.OH MY GOODNESS ?UCONN LEADSSSS UNBELIEVABLE #MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/IPX2JWiw0b
— NCAA March Madness (@MarchMadnessMBB) March 29, 2026 Speaking of a top-three pick — yes, that is my segue — Michael Jordan sat down with CBS for an interview, and it was a genuinely great conversation. He touched on everything, from the GOAT debate, to his addiction to competition, to ownership of 23XI Racing, and even the court case between him and NASCAR. It’s so rare to see MJ in the public eye, which is what made this interview especially interesting, particularly the parts where he opened up about his competitive spirit.“The joy of seeing competition,” said the GOAT. “I am a very competitive person. I think I am cursed. I am cursed with the competitive gene with anything that I do.”
Jordan said he fell in love with NASCAR because of his dad, who was a mechanic and loved cars. That, paired with the fact that Denny Hamlin once read a fake rumor about him and Jordan buying a NASCAR team together, and actually called MJ about it, ended up giving birth to 23XI Racing. That’s when MJ went from fan to seeing the behind the scenes within NASCAR and started seeing how things operated. And he didn’t like it. He felt the system was ‘lopsided’ and ‘wrong’, that those at the top reaped most of the benefits, while others were left behind. That’s what led to him taking legal action against NASCAR. And even if he had lost, he said he would’ve still felt like he won, because he brought attention to the issue. But he’s Jordan. He won. It also wouldn’t be an MJ interview without talking about basketball, something he admitted he still misses, even if he needed distance from it.“I wanted to get away from basketball in terms of what I represented in that arena and how big I had gotten,” said Jordan. “And it was such a huge burden for me… 100% [I miss basketball]. But I have compensated that feeling through NASCAR.”
He also gave his thoughts on the GOAT debate, or more accurately, why he doesn’t believe it really exists.“There’s no such thing as GOAT,” said Jordan. “Because we learn from other athletes, we progress the game. To say that one is better than the other is not really right.”
