IRONDEQUOIT – The Town of Irondequoit is preparing to decide whether to declare a plaza on East Ridge Road a public nuisance.
Over the last 10 years, Irondequoit police responded to the 519 Plaza one East Ridge Road more than 600 times. The calls include burglary, criminal mischief, prostitution and homicide.
A man was stabbed to death last October at Lush Resto Lounge in the plaza. It closed later that month.

The town took action against the property owner, ZSL Realty, by calling an administrative hearing earlier this month that presented these issues. But some owners in the plaza say they shouldn’t suffer the consequences of a public nuisance declaration.
News10NBC spoke with business owners at East Ridge Billiards, Signature Cigar and Smoke Collective and the Oak Barrel. They declined to go on camera but said they are not the sources of the public nuisance. The town says these businesses presented sufficient evidence of that.
The agenda from an upcoming special town board meeting says any action taken to reduce the public nuisance in the area should not include the three businesses.
The actions the town could take against the other businesses include additional building inspections and mandatory private security.
The property owner declined to speak during the ongoing proceedings. The town is holding a special board meeting Monday to review evidence and consider what action to take.
