ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Tony Award-winning show is in town at the West Herr Auditorium Theatre.
“Kimberly Akimbo” is a bittersweet coming-of-age story about a 16-year-old girl who looks like an elderly woman because she’s suffering from a rare rapid-aging disease. One unique feature of the show is its ice skating scene, where the actors glide across the stage on ice skates with no actual ice.
News10NBC caught up with a cast member about taking such a highly-ranked show on a North American tour.
“I don’t think that the only place theater should be is Broadway. I think it’s really important for youth and everyone to access theater and I think this is a really particular story that is very special and meaningful and everyone should have the chance to see it,” said Skye Alyssa Friedman, who plays Teresa in the play.
