Conservationist and former Dancing with the Stars champ Bindi Irwin is carrying on her father, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s legacy. And someday, her daughter Grace may take the reins. But for now, she’ll have to settle for cuddling with her celeb mom, giggling, and hanging with her friends at the Australia Zoo.
So why isn’t Irwin’s daughter ready to step into her shoes right now? Well, that might have something to do with the fact that the little girl just turned five! In a touching Instagram post, Irwin wrote, “March 25. The most meaningful day of my life. On this day every year we celebrate two wonderful events. Our wedding anniversary, and Grace’s birthday.”
That’s right, Irwin’s daughter was born one year to the day after her famous mama’s wedding. Irwin married professional wakeboarder and conservationist Chandler Powell on March 25, 2020. In 2021, the pair welcomed their first (and as of now only) child, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.
Along with sweet snapshots snuggling with Grace, a birthday cake pic, and throwbacks to her wedding day, the proud mommy/wife went on to add (in her recent post), “Our beautiful daughter was born on our first wedding anniversary (what are the chances?).” Happy fifth birthday to our sunshine, and happy sixth wedding anniversary to my incredible husband. I love you both with all my heart.”
Irwin’s doting husband added his own comment, writing to his wife, “Grace and I are the luckiest humans to have you. March 25 will always be the most special day. I love you.”
Of course, Grace’s parents weren’t the only ones who took to social media, posting birthday well-wishes. The Wiggles made an absolutely adorable clip, starting off their video by gushing, “We’re sending you a big happy fifth birthday…We hope your day is filled with adventure, love, and of course, animals.” Grace was also treated to a big birthday shout-out from Uncle Robert Irwin’s Dancing with the Stars professional partner Witney Carson McAllister, members of the Australian band Shepperd, the University of Oregon Duck (last July, an upside-down pic of the mascot and the Irwins down under went viral), Doug the Pug, children’s entertainers Emma Memma and Elvin Melvin, and a few other special friends.
