On Property Brothers: Under Pressure, Fans Can Expect to Get Emotional

For the premiere 14-episode season of Property Brothers: Under Pressure, Drew and Jonathan Scott specifically cast subjects with smaller, more realistic budgets and heartwarming stories.

"Whether it's the first couple that lost their home in the LA fires, or generational families that are moving in together so they can afford to get a house — everybody's got a different story," Jonathan Scott told People in a recent interview. "You'll see there's also this real docu-style, kind of behind-the-scenes... We don't turn the camera off, so you get to see a lot of the stuff that normally would happen after we stopped rolling."

Drew Scott added that in the show, "the emotions are there. The frustrations — even Jonathan and me arguing. So you get a lot of everything.”

And in an interview with Collider, Jonathan added that viewers can expect to see "heartfelt, relatable stories throughout every episode."

On Property Brothers: Under Pressure, Drew and Jonathan Scott Supported Their Subjects Through Hard Moments

Because the emotions are so high this season, Jonathan said that he and Drew "really tried to be not only there to help renovate ... but also be some support." Jonathan was specifically referencing AJ and Carin, whose story is featured in the first episode. The couple sadly lost their house in the Eaton fires, and came on Property Brothers: Under Pressure for help finding and renovating a new home.

"For AJ and Carin, you look at their home, which was only less than two minutes away from where Zooey's family home was that burned down," Jonathan told Collider.

Last year, Zooey Deschanel, who is engaged to Jonathan Scott, shared that the LA fires destroyed her childhood home. To help show AJ and Carin that they are not alone in this process of rebuilding after the fires, he took the couple over to the Deschanel family's construction site.

“I think it's trying to understand this is an emotional process for them and take the emotions off their plate and put it on our own, because we know how to deal with it," Drew added, per People.

Property Brothers: Under Pressure airs on HGTV on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and is available to stream the following day on HBO Max and Discovery+.
