Amid the growing concerns, Gambhir went to the Delhi High Court personality rights. On Wednesday, March 25, it is reported that the High Court has granted protection of Gautam Gambhir's personality rights.
Some of the fake videos claimed that he stepped down from the Team India head coach job, which was proved absolutely wrong, as the coach has been carrying on the crucial job to guide the team to win the T20 World Cup 2026. "My identity — my name, my face, my voice — has been weaponised by anonymous accounts to spread misinformation and generate revenue at my expense," Gautam Gambhir mentioned in his petition.
"This is not a matter of personal hurt; it is a matter of law, dignity, and the protection every public figure deserves in the age of artificial intelligence,” he added further.
The number of manipulated videos has increased since late 2025
According to the media reports, such manipulation of social media posts, using Gambhir's identity, increased sharply since late 2025 across Instagram, X, YouTube, and Facebook.
In an order, the Delhi High Court directed that all the misleading posts across social media and internet platforms be removed. The Delhi High Court has also ordered Meta, Google, and Amazon to take down objectionable URLs.
