WILLIAMSON, N.Y. — New York State Police say they’ve arrested the person who scammed a Williamson resident out of $20,000 by going to her home and collecting the cash.
Troopers have been investigating ever since the victim reported the scam last August. Police say a scammer told the victim that her bank account was compromised, convincing her to withdraw the money and give it to a fake bank representative who came to her door.
Police identified that fake representative as Aidan Chun Loong Chan, 19, of Nassau County. Troopers say Chan took the money to another person downstate. He’s charged with felony grand larceny and was arraigned in Wayne County Court.
