ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Theater at Innovation Square is getting a major expansion.
The building in the old Xerox Square has been expanded by 8,000 square feet. It will include accessible bathrooms and multi-purpose space for performers where they can warm up, make costume changes, shower, and make use of a new kitchen.
The theater hopes the expansion helps revitalize downtown.
“Show that we are a very, very vibrant city, that downtown is a safe place to bring families and a safe place to be,” Karl Stabnau said.
Stabnau is the director of operations at The Theatre at Innovation Square. He said the expansion is also wonderful for area businesses, especially on weekends.
The expansion will also house the offices of a brand-new nonprofit arts organization called Performing Arts in Rochester, or PAIR. It will connect local performing arts with community patrons and corporate sponsors.
