The troubles just don’t seem to be ending for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as yet another fast bowler has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). Akash Deep is the latest name to be on the injured list and is set to miss the entire season. KKR are already without the services of Harshit Rana in the upcoming season, whereas Matheesha Pathirana is set to join the team only by mid-April.
Akash Deep ruled out of IPL 2026
As per Cricbuzz, Akash has been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to an injury. The pacer has not reported to the KKR camp ahead of IPL 2026 and is instead at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru where he is undergoing rehabilitation. Deep, who was previously a part of LSG, was bagged by KKR for Rs 1 crore at the mini-auction in December 2025.
“Unfortunately, he is out of the IPL, ruled out for the season,” the KKR official said.
Earlier this month, Rana underwent a knee surgery following which reports claimed that he is set to miss bulk of IPL 2026. Pathirana, who was injured in the lead up to the T20 World Cup 2026, is yet to completely recover. He will have to clear a fitness test as mandated by Sri Lanka Cricket and only then will he be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to take part in IPL.
Mustafizur Rahman was one of the biggest signing that KKR made at the IPL 2026 auction. However, the team was directed by the BCCI to release the pacer amid geopolitical tensions between India and Bangladesh, and the backlash that followed after his signing. Blessing Muzarabani has been named his replacement.
