GATES, N.Y. — A GoFundMe for the Carpenter family’s 6-month-old son, Noah, who died in an SUV accident in Gates from early March, has raised nearly $190,000.

According to the GoFundMe, Noah’s mother Kelly has a severe traumatic brain injury and is still in the hospital. His father Jake was also seriously injured but is expected to make a full recovery.
The crash happened two weeks ago on Buffalo and Howard roads. News10NBC has received many questions about why no information has been released about the driver who rear-ended the Carpenter family.
We reached out to Gates police for that information repeatedly. Gates Police Chief Rob Long said it’s important that he avoids releasing incomplete or unverified information while the investigation continues:
“At this time, we are actively investigating this incident in coordination with the New York State Police. Our priority is to ensure that every aspect of the situation is thoroughly examined before any further action is taken.
“We understand that there are many questions surrounding this matter, I keep getting them while working and in my personal life. However, it is important that we avoid releasing incomplete or unverified information while the investigation remains ongoing. The Gates Police Department has a longstanding commitment to conducting thorough and professional investigations, and that same standard is guiding our work in this case.
“Once the investigation is complete and we are in a position to share confirmed information, we will provide an update to the public.”
