It's been almost two decades since Jordin Sparks became the youngest winner in American Idol history, and even she can't quite wrap her head around it.
"It's next year will be 20 years that I won American Idol," Sparks, 36, said during the Sunday, March 8 episode of her podcast What's Your Spark?. "Can you believe it? Like it will be 20 years."
The Season 6 champion, who took the crown in 2007 at just 17 years old, beat runner-up Blake Lewis during one of the show's biggest eras, when millions of viewers were still casting votes from flip phones every week.
That win launched a career that quickly moved beyond reality TV.
Her debut album Jordin Sparks went platinum, and singles like "Tattoo" and the Chris Brown duet "No Air" helped turn the Arizona native into one of the breakout pop stars of the late 2000s. Over the years, Sparks has also branched into acting, Broadway, hosting, and voice work while continuing to release music.

Sparks added that social media has shifted how people view fame and popularity. "I think social media has kind of skewed what success looks like," she explained. "Sometimes the more views and more likes equates to success, but those things can be bought."
Despite occasionally feeling overlooked in the music world, Sparks said she stays grounded in what she knows she can do. "I do have my moments," she admitted. "But I know the talent that I have, the gift that I've been blessed with."
"What’s meant for me will never miss me."
