The Chicago Bulls are still smarting from a surprise 105-103 victory against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, which improved their record to a borderline-respectable 26-37.
At 26-35, the No. 11-seeded Milwaukee Bucks are fairly catchable. We can’t have that.
It doesn’t appear that Chicago head coach Billy Donovan is on board with team president Arturas Karnisovas’ intended plan of losing as many games as possible while the 2025-26 season winds down, with an eye on the 2026 NBA Draft lottery.
Something’s got to give.

Swingman Isaac Okoro, the Bulls’ best perimeter defender, got candid about adjusting to the team’s new, tanktastic reality post-trade deadline, as Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times details.“It’s definitely a shock factor where I felt we were doing well, not great, but well before the trades, but it’s the nature of the business and things happen,” Okoro said. “Supposedly they want to rebuild but I don’t know. My goal each and every night is to go out there and try and get as many wins as possible, help this team get as many wins as possible. But there’s no doubt it’s not fun losing, especially coming from my past four or five years I’ve been playing at least until May and into May, so of course it’s not fun losing. That’s why I try to attack every game with that mindset to try and win.”
The 25-year-old will be working on an expiring $11.8 million contract next season, should he stick with the franchise that long. He’s a useful two-way contributor, and on a contending Cleveland Cavaliers club the last few years he fell to the fringes of the rotation. He’ll at least earn plenty of touches and minutes as long as he’s in Chicago. Even after inking a four-year, $100 million deal with the Bulls in restricted free agency this past summer, it appears that the front office may not be totally committed to reconstituting the franchise around point guard Josh Giddey, observes Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune. As Poe notes, Giddey knows it could be years before he plays meaningful postseason minutes again.“It doesn’t happen overnight,” Giddey allowed. “These things take time to build, and I believe in the guys in this locker room and the coaches and the people in this building that we have the ability to get there.”
Similarly, Cowley writes in another piece that Billy Donovan has been playing veteran combo guard Collin Sexton big minutes of late. He’s scored 20 or more points across each of the last three contests, guiding the Bulls to two wins in that stretch. Chicago needs to lose, and lose big, to maximize its lottery chances here. But Donovan and his players don’t appear to have gotten the memo from management. Bulls alum Nikola Vucevic, now a reserve on the Boston Celtics, suffered a fracture in his right finger. Per the team, the veteran big man went under the knife to repair the digit on Saturday. He’s set to be reassessed in the next three to four weeks. While durability had been his strong suit as a starter in Chicago, he’s already dealing with a long-term element now that he’s actually being counted on for a contender. Former Indiana Pacers-turned-Bulls wing Jalen Rose has a unique perspective on the GOAT debate. During a new episode of “Joe and Jada” on Netflix, the former 13-year NBA vet made his pick for the best player among Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James — all of whom he guarded.“As somebody that played against Michael Jordan, played against Kobe, played against LeBron, played against I want to just tell you guys something,” Rose relayed. “There’s nobody better than Michael. I want to be very clear. There’s a reason why you’re wearing his shoes and he ain’t played in 30 years. There’s an actual reason.”
On Friday, six-time All-Star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum returned to the hardwood just 10 months after tearing his Achilles tendon. Tatum was instantly inserted into head coach Joe Mazzulla’s starting lineup, and in 27 minutes chipped in a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double, while also dishing out seven assists and logging a +20 plus-minus. Boston obliterated the visiting Dallas Mavericks, 120-100. Although Tatum shot inefficiently (6-of-16 from the field), he already seems to have reclaimed the familiar athletic burst that had made him such a two-way threat prior to the injury.Jayson Tatum putback.Jayson Tatum step-back three.TD Garden has erupted.pic.twitter.com/aoeAsI8RPV
— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) March 7, 2026 In speaking with The Sporting News’ Stephen Noh, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Derek Ochiai explained why Tatum was able to recuperate so quickly.“The advances in sports medicine over the past 10 to 15 years has been astronomical. It’s not one thing,” Ochai said. “It’s surgery, it’s surgical nutrition, it’s optimizing physical therapy, metrics that athletic trainers use. It’s all of these and the surgical techniques, all of this has contributed to getting athletes who, in the past may have had to take a year and a half off or call it a career, now they come back and perform at an elite level.”
Per Tom Friend of Sports Business Journal, the league has had discussions with ESPN, YouTube TV, Amazon, and DAZN to host local team broadcasts, possibly starting next season. Main Street Sports Group is on the brink of collapse. The broadcaster controls the local game rights for 13 clubs, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons, Friend notes that the four NBA franchises that broadcast their non-national games via NBC Sports and the five teams that have ditched the concept of a regional sports broadcast could also all be obvious candidates for this new plan, meaning the NBA could add 22 teams’ local games to this proposed new broadcast platform. Given that Jerry Reinsdorf owns the Bulls’ broadcast partner, Chicago Sports Network, Chicago may avoid this new centralized plan at first. How this will affect NBA League Pass remains to be seen. © Winslow Townson-Imagn ImagesHence then, the article about okoro grapples with bulls rebuild giddey in flux sexton ascends and other bulls bullets was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
