"This format, yes, he's struggling at this moment, he's going for runs, he's licking runs at this moment, but he has to believe in his ability that if he gets going, he can take you those 3-4 wickets in those 24 balls. It's about that belief. Anything, any bowler can go for runs", he added.
Rahane explains why the spinner is leaking so many runs
According to the veteran, as batters find it difficult to score against Jasprit Bumrah, they often target the other bowlers of the team. Rahane observed Chakravarthy has been doing well in the first few overs and the middle overs as well. The bowling figures losing shapes in the last few overs, when all of the batters try to score as many runs as possible in a very limited number of balls.
"It's tactical, because we have Bumrah, the opposition is actually looking to attack Varun Chakravarthy, they are looking to attack Akshar Patel. We have Ajay and Hardik Pandya who are bowling well. So, the opposition is actually planning it tactically, they are doing it really well", Ajinkya Rahane explained.
"Everyone is actually studying Varun Chakravarthy. The bowling overs which he's been bowling, he's been really good in the power play, he's really good in the middle overs, he struggled in the death overs, last 4 overs, from 15-20 or 16-20, he struggled. At this moment, just one game, he just needs to have that belief in his ability that he's going to win the match for the team", he added.
