Murray Head, the ‘70s rock star best known for his 1984 hit song “One Night in Bangkok,” is celebrating a special milestone.
Born on March 5, 1946, the British singer turns 80 this year, marking a successful career that has spanned decades of memorable stage performances and notable on-screen appearances.
Like many gifted young performers, he began singing and acting at a young age.
Raised in a highly artistic family whose parents both worked in the entertainment industry, being in front of an audience or appearing on screen was something he grew up around and quickly became comfortable with.
At 12, he began his acting career through commercials and radio plays. By 18, he had signed a recording contract after winning a competition run by Radio Luxembourg. This marked the beginning of his career that would eventually bring him international success.
One of the biggest moments of his career came when the new wave pop song “One Night in Bangkok” was released from the 1984 concept album for the musical Chess.
