As per Telecom Asia Sport, an unnamed Pakistani player misbehaved with a female staff member at the Golden Crown Hotel. This happened before their last Super Eight game against Sri Lanka. Pakistan needed to beat Sri Lanka by a huge margin in order to have any chance of qualification but failed to do so. However, in a shocking incident before that game, a player didn’t behave appropriately with housekeeping staff.
PCB takes note of Pakistan player’s behaviour
Pakistan’s first five matches were in Colombo. Then, they moved to Pallekele in Kandy, where they were beaten by a Harry Brook-led England. The game was played on February 24. Hence, the incident occurred between Feb 25 and Feb 28 (PAK vs SL).
Fascinatingly, the member who was in the situation raised an alarm before other employees came in to help her. The matter was obviously taken to Pakistan’s team manager Naveed Cheema, who apologised to the hotel on behalf of the player. The player could’ve landed in huge trouble had Cheema not been there.
As a result, the Pakistani player is likely to be fined by the PCB, who will also take disciplinary action against him.
