A 31-year-old man is scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday, accused of creeping up behind several police officers and shooting at them during a prostitution investigation Monday morning in Auburn Gresham on the South Side.

Sedrick Griffin, was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possessing a firearm while being a repeat felon among other charges, Chicago police said.

Officers were inside two marked squad cars just after 6 a.m. Monday for a call of solicitation of prostitution in the 7500 block of South Peoria Street when Griffin arrived in a black Nissan Amarada and ‘crept’ up behind a pickup truck before he allegedly began shooting at the officers, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times.

Griffin, 31, then allegedly fled in a black SUV, and officers chased him until he crashed into two parked vehicles in the 7600 block of South Union Avenue, police said.
