RIYADH — Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone and two cruise missiles on Wednesday, authorities said, as an attempted drone attack later targeted the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the Eastern Province without causing damage.According to the official spokesperson of the Defense Ministry, Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Eastern Province and two cruise missiles over Al-Kharj.In a separate statement, a source at the Ministry of Energy said that the Ras Tanura refinery was targeted later in the morning by a drone in an attempted attack.The source confirmed that the incident did not result in any damage and did not affect oil supplies.Authorities said the Kingdom’s air defenses responded immediately to the threats, successfully intercepting the aerial targets and maintaining the safety of vital facilities and infrastructure.Ras Tanura, located in the Eastern Province, is one of the largest oil refining and export facilities in Saudi Arabia.
