The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has ruled out any uncertainty surrounding Pakistan's upcoming tour of Bangladesh. They have clearly stated that nothing of the sort has been communicated to them on behalf of the PCB.
Pakistan missed out on their chance to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals despite all their pleas being met by the ICC. They played all their games in Sri Lanka, but still, they could not manage a victory against any frontier nation, as they lost to India and England and had a near-defeat experience against Sri Lanka before being eliminated.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, regretted opposing the ICC with their stubbornness for a change in venue, citing unnecessary security concerns in India, where they were originally scheduled to play their games. Following their boycott, Scotland were swapped in as immediate replacements.
As per some reports from the international media and Geo Super, Pakistan are unlikely to travel to Bangladesh due to the escalating tensions in the middle-east which could cast doubt over the series.
Pakistan recently flew back from Sri Lanka to their home, and within a week, they would have to travel to Bangladesh again. The BCB officials have, however, reiterated that they have not been formally informed of any uncertainty by the PCB.
The media reports had claimed that the PCB would proceed with the tour only if the prevailing situation in the Middle East did not escalate, but with Iran having waged a war against the US-friendly nations, travel risks continue to prevail.
BCB dismisses claims of uncertainty for upcoming tour
BCB officials have dismissed such reports and said that they have not received any communication from the PCB regarding any potential change in the scheduled series. Rather, they stressed the fact that the preparation of the series is continued as planned.
The BCB has further explained that with direct flights available from Pakistan to Dhaka, they do not foresee any travel-related complications, since Pakistan does not need to use the Dubai gate.
BCB also went on to inform The Daily Star that there are no further security concerns in Bangladesh and that the board expects the series to proceed as scheduled.
Bangladesh in the hunt for direct World Cup qualification in 2027
Pakistan are scheduled to arrive on the 9th of March, and the three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on the 11th of March at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
This series is crucial from Bangladesh's point of view, as they wish to make a direct entry into the ICC World Cup 2027. They are currently ranked 10th in the ICC ODI Team Rankings and could be replaced by Zimbabwe, who have been in good form.
Bangladesh are regretting their boycott of the T20 World Cup, and they would not want the same to happen with the ICC World Cup 2027.
