Saturday Night Live has caused a stir and backlash after its recent episode, hosted by Heated Rivalry's Connor Storrie, reportedly mocked the recent BAFTA incident involving a man with Tourette's syndrome. A charity, comedians, and actors have come out to chastise the sketch for being insensitive.
On Feb. 22 at the 2026 BAFTAs, Scottish campaigner John Davidson, who has Tourette’s syndrome, had unwillingly hurled a racial slur as Michael B. Jordon and Delroy Lindo presented an award on stage. The incident, caught on camera, caused controversy online, with Davidson stating he was "upset" and "distraught" over not having control over the involuntary tic.
While Davidson apologized for the incident, and many advocated for the campaigner, SNL used it as the basis for a comedic sketch. The running gag of the sketch involved the cast dressed as controversial celebrities like Mel Gibson, J.K. Rowling, Bill Cosby, Kanye West, and Armie Hammer blaming their behavior on Tourette's.
"Tourette’s isn’t just blurting out an offensive word. It can be a years-long obsession with something like trans life and a deep anger that someone who was born with a wand in their pants would want that one removed and replaced with a Horcrux," said SNL member Ashley Padilla dressed as the Harry Potter author.
The sketch also had Kenan Thompson portray Cosby and say he suffers from "something called the drink Tourette’s" in relation to his multiple accusations of sexual assault. Storrie appeared in the sketch portraying Hammer, who stepped away from Hollywood following previous allegations of cannibalism.

Tourette’s syndrome charity, Tourettes Action, stated Deadline about the sketch being "unacceptable" for "mocking a disability".
“Mocking a disability is never acceptable. It would not be tolerated for any other condition, and it should not be tolerated by people with Tourette’s," said CEO Emma McNally.
"Tourette’s is a complex neurological condition, of which there is no cure. It is not a joke. It is not a personality trait. It is not a source of entertainment. It is a condition that can be extremely debilitating, causing pain isolation and huge amounts of discrimination."
She goes on to say that any video that deliberately "misrepresents or sensationalise tics set us back years." Since the BAFTAs incident, she also adds that members of their community have been trolled, "harassed", and "targeted with threats and humiliation" for having a condition they didn't choose.
The charity was not alone in their response, with James Dreyfus, who plays Lord Gormon Massey in HBO’s House of the Dragon, commenting, "Good grief. Only goes to show that ‘regime comedians’ are as desperately unamusing, cringeworthy, pig- ignorant & prejudiced as they are over here."
British comedian Al Murray has also commented in the "disgusting" sketch, with Piers Morgan having spoken out in Davidson's defense after actor Deon Cole mocked the advocate during the 2026 NAACP Awards.
