ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The very cold weather continues for the next 24 hours as the temperature falls to near 10 degrees this Sunday night and will remain below freezing heading into Monday. However, even though it remains unseasonably cold for Monday, the sun will shine brightly for most of the day. And with light winds it will turn out to be a pleasant Monday afternoon.
There is a lunar eclipse scheduled for very early Tuesday morning. The eclipse begins at 4:50 AM and reaches its maximum point at 6:33 AM. As the moon passes in the Earth’s shadow, expect a reddish hue filtering the view of the moon. Of course, this astronomical event is higher dependent on the weather and the amount of cloud cover. Right now, we are causally optimistic about the conditions.
The chill should slowly disappear for Tuesday and Wednesday as the temperature moderates into the lower 40s. There will be the chance of a few spotty showers on Tuesday with the small chance of some mixed precipitation south of Rochester early in the day.
Then the warmth begins to kick-in for the second half of the week. On Thursday and Friday, the mercury should be within a few degrees of 50 with a few rain showers possible. Then Saturday has the potential to be the warmest day of the season. There is still some uncertainty to the forecast, but the News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate a few rain showers with the temperature likely to surge through the 60s. It is important to note, that the record high temperature for the day is 68 degrees set back in 2012.
