Maggie Gyllenhaal enjoyed a rare public outing with her daughter Ramona Sarsgaard as the pair celebrated their new movie.
Gyllenhaal, 48, and Ramona, 19, posed for photos together on the red carpet at the premiere of The Bride! on Thursday, February 26, in London, twinning in black dresses. Gyllenhaal exuded elegance in a full-length, short-sleeve gown with a keyhole cutout, while Ramona looked equally as stylish as her mother in a spaghetti-strap frock, black tights and coordinating heels.
The duo also joined Gyllenhaal’s husband and Ramona’s father, Peter Sarsgaard, for a photo op on the carpet. While posing with her actor dad, 54, Ramona added a black coat with a white feathered neck to her ensemble. As the teen stood alongside her famous parents, her physical similarities to both of them were apparent.

Just like the film itself, the premiere of The Bride! was a family affair. Maggie wrote and directed the movie, which stars Peter and her brother Jake Gyllenhaal and features cameos from Ramona and her sister, Gloria, 13. (The cast also includes Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz and Julianne Hough.)

Earlier this month, Maggie explained why she invited her daughters to be in the film.
“I just thought if they want to, come be in the movie!” she told Entertainment Weekly. “And they did. I love having them be in it. My little daughter—she’s 13 now, but she was 11 then—is sitting on the bar at the end. And my other daughter was, for a long time, a really serious dancer, and so she’s with the dancers.”
The Bride! follows Frankenstein’s monster (Bale) as he finds a companion in the Bride (Buckley), who ignites a cultural revolution. According to Maggie, the characters’ refusal to be confined by labels reminds her of her daughters.
“They don’t fit in their boxes, and they were really the inspiration for making the movie,” she noted, referring to her kids.

As for Peter, he was proud of his daughters’ work ethic on the set.
“At school, they make things and stuff like that, and they do theater, but they haven’t expressed a lot of interest in being in our business,” he told the outlet. “I wonder why.”
While Peter enjoys “working with people I’m close with,” his desire to land a role in The Bride! went beyond his personal connection to Maggie, to whom he has been married since May 2009.
“With Maggie, she’s just such an extraordinary talent that even if I were not married to her, I would be trying to get the part,” he insisted. “We’re all slightly different people at work than we are at home, so I would say that my wife probably prefers my home self to my work self—I ask ‘why’ too many times at work. I’m a little tougher, maybe, at work. But that’s also just a lot of experience in acting.”
Not only does Maggie consider Peter a “brilliant” actor, but she also credited him with “helping me think things through” during the creative process for The Bride!
Despite being a new experience for the couple and their daughters, the family collaboration felt natural to Peter.
“It didn’t seem like a big deal, to be honest,” he said. “It had the feeling of a bunch of people coming together to do something really special.”
