The Fallout 4 registration form has you making some very important decisions indeed.
You're given 21 points to distribute among your starting stats, known as SPECIAL, and naturally, you want to spend those points wisely.
The game gives you a quick rundown of what Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck all are, but if you're new to Fallout, it can be tough to know exactly what you want.
Basically, how you allocate your points determines what kind of character you'll play during the game's opening hours.
So, here's a quick overview of what you need to know about the registration form in Fallout 4, some beginner tips and the best builds to start out with.
Fallout 4 registration form: Beginner tips
Before you randomly place your limited number of points on any stat in the Fallout 4 registration form, you're best off knowing what each stat does and the best ones to focus on for the early game.
Here's what each SPECIAL stat does:
Strength | Strength is a measure of your raw physical power. It affects how much you can carry, and the damage of all melee attacks.Perception | Perception is your environmental awareness and "sixth sense", and affects weapon accuracy in VATS.Endurance | Endurance is a measure of your overall physical fitness. It affects your total Health and the Action Point drain from sprinting.Charisma | Charisma is your ability to charm and convince others. It affects your success to persuade in dialogue and prices when you barter.Intelligence | Intelligence is a measure of your overall mental acuity, and affects the number of Experience Points earned.Agility | Agility is a measure of your overall finesse and reflexes. It affects the number of Action Points in VATS and your ability to sneak.Luck | Luck is a measure of your general good fortune, and affects the recharge rate of Critical Hits.Given there is no level cap, you can unlock all SPECIAL ranks as you play through the game, so what you choose on your registration form will apply to the early portions of your time spent in Fallout 4.
View Green Video on the source websiteWe'd recommend you spend a good number of your points on Intelligence, regardless of the character build you're aiming for. Having high Intelligence from the start will help you level up quicker and is great for earlier unlocks of perks in its tree – all of them proving useful.
Strength and Endurance are good for a few points, too, as these increase your carrying capacity (vital throughout the game) and total amount of HP. Endurance also makes sprinting easier.
Agility, Perception, and Luck are all worth spending a couple of points on each, too (Agility in particular if you want to sneak around like a wasteland ninja). Charisma is less important in the early game.
It all depends on what character build you're going for during the early portions of the game. But we do strongly recommend everyone put seven or eight points into Intelligence in the Fallout 4 registration form.
