Authorities in Chicago’s northwest suburbs were conducting an investigation after one person was injured and a second was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a domestic incident, law enforcement said on Sunday.
According to the Des Plaines Police Department, at around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a domestic incident along Jill Court near Andrea Lane. Officers arrived at the scene and learned a domestic incident had turned physical, and one of the people involved left the scene.
A second individual was treated by the Des Plaines Fire Department at the scene and taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Less than an hour later, police in neighboring Park Ridge responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle along Meacham Avenue near Edgemont Lane. The individual who fled the prior incident was found dead inside of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene by Park Ridge Fire Department personnel.
Additional information hadn’t been released as of Sunday afternoon.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office had yet to release the person’s name or an official cause of death.
