Wendy's is giving away free chili for National Chili Day, consider this your advanced notice.
The cult-favorite item has been a part of Wendy's menus since the fast-food chain first opened its doors in 1969. It's so popular that it's sold at every single Wendy's location in the U.S. and at multiple international locations, and even has its own dedicated blog on the official Wendy's website.
According to Wendy's, it served over 83 million servings of chili in the U.S. alone in 2020. So to say it's popular might actually be underselling it and those who've already had it would probably agree that it's so good it could be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And that's not hyperbolic, as New York-based bar ownerLarry Shea recently lost a bet against PGA Pro Scottie Scheffler that required him to eat only Wendy's Chili for an entire month! And now that Shea is nearing the final week of his journey, at least one of his meals will be on the house on National Chili Day.
Wendy's Offering Free Chili on National Chili Day
Wendy's Chili is made with the brand's fresh-never-frozen beef, a "hearty helping" of vegetables including bell peppers, diced tomatoes, onion, and, of course, beans.
The tried-and-true classic is the original "high-protein, carb-conscious" entrée and now it can be yours for free one day this week.

It doesn't matter if you're new to Wendy's Chili or an OG fan, the international fast-food icon is offering all fans a free small Wendy's Chili on National Chili Day. There are a few stipulations, though, so before you go running to Wendy's, you should finish reading this first.
For starters, the free small cup of Chili is only being offered on digital orders made through the official Wendy's app or website by current Wendy's Rewards members (not a member? Signing up is easy and only takes a moment).
The offer is also valid only on orders that include a food or beverage purchase of $5 or more, which sounds like the perfect excuse to try the new Thin Mint Frosty Fusion, Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger, or Chicken Tender Ranch Wrap.
The final rule to qualify is that customers must order it on National Chili Day, not the day before or the day after, so be sure to arrive at Wendy's on Thursday, Feb. 26 (a pretty easy date to remember: 2/26/26). If you time it right, you could technically enjoy your leftover free chips and queso from Chipotle with your free Wendy's Chili.
