Where is the Closing Ceremony?
The Closing Ceremony won’t take place in Milan or Cortina. Instead, it will be held in an ancient Italian arena in Verona, Arena di Verona.
“Beauty cannot be fixed in time. This ancient monument is beautiful if it is alive, if it continues to change,” said the ceremony’s producer, Alfredo Accatino. “This is what we want to narrate: An Italy that is changing, and also the beauty of movement, the beauty of sport and the beauty of nature.”

Who is performing at the Closing Ceremony?
The list of performers includes Italian singer-songwriter Achille Lauro, actor Benedetta Porcaroli and DJ/producer Gabry Ponte.
Acclaimed ballet dancer Roberto Bolle has also been rehearsing for the event this week under a veil of secrecy.
Additional performers and special guests were expected, but have not yet been announced.
Who are the flag bearers?
Hilary Knight and Evan Bates were chosen as Team USA’s flag bearers, a fitting moment for the two medalists both in their fifth – and potentially last – Olympics.
The moment will cap what has been an incredible Olympics for Knight, who has said the 2026 Games would be her last.
The suburban Chicago native got engaged to fellow Olympian Brittany Bowe and went on to score the game-tying goal that sent the U.S. women’s hockey team into overtime in their final match against Canada, setting an Olympic scoring record in the process and ultimately going on to win gold.
For Bates, a Michigan native, the 2026 Olympics marked medal redemption.
He, alongside wife and skating partner Madison Chock, affectionately named by teammates “Mr. and Mrs. America,” scored a silver medal after falling short of the podium in their 2022 appearance. The duo skated one of the best performances of their career, but their second place finish was the source of controversy as many believed they should have won gold.
What is the order for the Parade of Athletes at the Closing Ceremony?
As was the case for the Opening Ceremony, the Greek flag leads the procession, while the host country’s flag is the last to enter, but the Closing Ceremony order is different in other ways.
That’s because the athletes instead enter en masse.
The athletes marching as a group to end the games is meant to show togetherness and comradery after the competitive nature of the competition. This idea dates back to the 1956 Melbourne Games, originating from a young Chinese man named John Ian Wing.
Wing wrote an anonymous letter with the idea to the International Olympic Committee, and the idea was implemented to great success. The Melbourne Olympics were henceforth known as the “Friendly Games.”
The Parade of Athletes features representatives of each of the 205 delegations.
In Paris, the flag bearers of each delegation started the parade on the stage, in the centre of the stadium, that symbolically represents a planisphere.
Then athletes enter the arena together from two entry points to join the parade.
