US President Donald Trump notedon Tuesday he will be “indirectly” involved in talks between Iran and theUnited States, set to begin in Geneva later in the day, adding that Tehran ismotivated to negotiate.

“I don’t think they want theconsequences of not making a deal,” Trump warned, recalling that Iranexperienced the impact of a tough negotiating posture when the US bombedIranian nuclear sites in June 2025.
The second round of talks inSwitzerland follows repeated US military threats against Iran over thecountry’s crackdown on anti-government protests and the ongoing dispute overits nuclear program.
On Monday, Iranian ForeignMinister Abbas Araghchi conveyed his belief that the US position on the nuclearissue had shifted toward “a more realistic one,” maintaining that Tehran wouldnot yield to US threats.
He outlined today’s meeting, mediated by Oman, will focus on Iran’s nuclear program and the potentiallifting of economic sanctions imposed by Washington.
