Junior Nationals qualifier Kealan Tupper will be headed to the midwest for college, having announced his verbal commitment to swim for Northwestern University in Illinois beginning in the fall of 2027.

Tupper is currently a junior at Amador Valley High School in California and has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team for the past three years. In addition to competing for the Dons, Tupper also swims year-round with the Pleasanton Seahawks, where he primarily specializes in free, fly and IM.
Tupper has been on a hot streak this season, setting new best times in nearly every event at each meet that he has competed at since kicking off the season back in September. At the PLS Pleasanton Seahawks SC Senior Meet in November, he claimed the runner-up spot in the 400 IM (3:52.05) and placed 4th in the 200 back (1:48.85) and 9th in both the 500 free (4:27.43) and 200 IM (1:49.91), posting lifetime bests in each event and hitting new Winter Juniors qualifying times in the 400 IM and 500 free. He also finished 15th in the 200 free (1:43.61) and 17th in the 100 free (47.59) and 100 back (51.87 – SB).
At the 2025 Winter Junior Championship – West, Tupper earned a second swim in one event and logged six new lifetime best performances. He placed 9th in the 400 IM (3:50.19 – PB), 34th in the 500 free (4:27.74), 37th in the 200 IM (1:49.74 – PB) and 52nd in the 200 fly (1:49.88 – PB). He also contested the 200 back (1:49.92) and posted new personal best times in the 50 free (21.26), 50 back (23.60) and 100 back (50.23) as the lead off on the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay, respectively.
A week later, Tupper raced at the 2025 Speedo Sectionals in Walnut. He placed 2nd in the 200 IM (1:48.82 – PB), 7th in the 200 free (1:38.52 – PB), 11th in the 200 fly (1:49.60 – PB), 20th in the 400 IM (3:56.39), 37th in the 100 fly (50.98 – PB) and 40th in the 100 free (46.97).

The Wildcats sent five athletes on to compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, where they finished 44th overall.
Based on the results from the 2025 Big Ten Conference Championships, Tupper would have landed in the ‘C’ final in the 200 fly and 400 IM, giving him an opportunity to score some points for Northwestern right from the start. On the team itself, he would have ranked 3rd in the 500 free and 400 IM, 5th in the 200 free, 200 back and 200 back and 7th in the 200 IM last season, bringing added depth to the Wildcats. With another full season before he arrives on campus, it remains to be seen exactly what his times and the roster will look like when he joins the team.
Currently set to join Tupper in Evanston in the fall of 2027 are Taylor Thongintra and Spencer Belbot, who should both make for strong training partners over their four years together.
