CHILI, N.Y. — A Choose Love rally took place in Chili on Saturday afternoon, drawing more than 20 people to the intersection of Chili Avenue and Paul Road.
The event was organized by Westside Monroe County Indivisible to promote love for democracy and people. The organizer chose the theme of Choose Love because it was Valentine’s Day and emphasized the need for more love in the world.
“If you look at the signs, it says choose love, love melts ice, other kinds of things. It’s just the idea that this world needs love. We have so much hate going on and we need to see something good,” said Joan Taber, rally coordinator
Taber said the community and passing drivers showed support through honks and waves. She was unsure of what to expect as this was her first rally in Chili.
Westside Monroe County Indivisible plans to hold a rally each month in a Westside town.
