Temperatures will feel more like spring in the Chicago area, the NBC 5 Storm Team said, with a stretch of 50-degree days beginning Friday and even 60 degree readings by next week.
“51 degrees is the average high we typically see March 25,” NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman said of Friday’s predicted high temperature.
Friday morning however, temperature started out chilly, Roman said, in the teens. It’s not until later Friday afternoon is when temperatures will top out in the low-to-mid 50s.
While Friday will be sunny, Valentine’s Day Saturday will be most cloudy, with temperatures taking a slight dip into the upper 40s. That’s still a ways away from last year’s Valentine’s Day high of 36 degrees, Roman said.
Sunday will see more sunshine, with temperatures jumping back up into the mid-50s. Temperatures were expected to remain in the 50s Monday and Tuesday, Roman said, with a warm-up “surging” from the south Wednesday.
“Temperatures will get very close to the record next week,” Roman said. We’re talking temperatures in the mid 50s, may even 60s Wednesday,” with warmer readings to the south.
“Of course, that’s just one day,” Roman continued. “After that, we’ll see a system pass through that will bring us some sowers, and then we’ll see temperatures gradually drop.”
The Chicago-area will wrap up the 10-day forecast in the 40s, Roman said.
