Aliso Niguel has selected former Sunny Hills coach Fred Gambrell as its football coach, Gambrell confirmed Thursday.
Aliso Niguel’s football program announced the coaching news on its social media.
Gambrell arrives after a two-year stint at Sunny Hills in which the Lancers showed improvement.
Sunny Hills finished 6-4 this past season after posting a 2-8 record in 2024.
Before taking the helm at Sunny Hills, Gambrell served as an assistant coach at San Clemente.
Gambrell replaces coach Michael Calahan at Aliso Niguel. Calahan resigned in December after six seasons.
The Wolverines finished 8-4 last season and placed third in the Foxtrot League.
In 2026 and 2027, Aliso Niguel rises to the Epsilon League, which includes Brea Olinda, Foothill, Newport Harbor, Tesoro and Trabuco Hills.
