Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Nemanja Maksic from Belgrade, Serbia, has announced his verbal commitment to the admission process* at Princeton University for the 2027-28 school year. He confirmed to SwimSwam:
“I chose Princeton because of its outstanding academic program, great coaches, and amazing team.”
Maksic trains with the club team PK Novi Sad and specializes in sprint butterfly. He holds every Serbian national age group record —from age 10 to 18— in the 50 fly. This past summer, he earned a bronze medal in that event at the 2025 European Junior Swimming Championships in Šamorín, Slovakia, where he broke the Serbian 17/18 national record with 23.78.
In June, he competed at the “Golden Bear” International Swimming Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, logging personal bests in the 100 free (51.15) and 100 fly (54.10). He added a PB in the 50 free (23.51) at the Malmsten Swim Open in Stockholm last April.
Maksic is a nice pick up for the Tigers’ class of 2031, which also features verbal commits Jonny Palamar, Cade Vieler, Jack Cunningham, Jose Rodriguez, Kannen Crossland, and Max Van Stone (diving). His best converted 100 fly time would have scored in the ‘B’ final at the 2025 Ivy League Men’s Championships (it took 46.80 to make the top 8), while he would have been just shy of making finals in the 50/100 free (one needed 20.12/44.19 to earn second swims).
Princeton has 3 butterflyers under 47 seconds so far this season: sophomore Logan Noguchi (46.52), freshman Alex Townsend (46.84), and senior Conor McKenna (46.86). By the time Maksic arrives, Noguchi and Townsend’s training group will have expanded to include 2026 recruits Yury Kuzmenko (19.55/43.34 free, 47.18 fly), Isaiah Tucker (46.61/1:46.74 fly), Michael Geh (44.49 free/47.90 fly), and Australian sprint freestyler Ben Cotroneo (23.09/49.24 LCM free).
Best LCM times (converted):
50 fly – 23.78 (20.79) 100 fly – 54.10 (47.31) 100 free – 51.15 (44.23) 50 free – 23.51 (20.31)*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
