A founding member of one of classic rock’s most enduring bands is stepping back into the spotlight—not for a concert, but for opening night.
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Al Greenwood, a founding member of Foreigner, will be in attendance when Feels Like the First Time – The Foreigner Musical officially opens on April 17, 2026, at Tilles Center at Long Island University in Brookville, New York. It is being directed by Tony nominee Adam Pascal.
The production marks the first full staging of the new musical inspired by Foreigner’s catalog, and Greenwood’s presence adds a powerful layer of authenticity to the project.

“The songs of Foreigner and a Broadway-style musical fit well together,” Greenwood said in a statement. “Our songs tell stories, and they complement the story of this musical rather well. It’s beyond exciting for me to see the songs we created years ago come to life in another art form. I am thrilled with the show Adam and the LIU team have created, and I know our fans will be too.”
Set in 1985, the musical follows a suburban family whose lives are turned upside down after winning an MTV sweepstakes that brings a rock star to their backyard for a private concert. The show features some of Foreigner’s biggest hits, including “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Feels Like the First Time,” and the global No. 1 smash “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
Opening night on April 17 is already sold out. Additional performances run through April 26, with tickets officially going on sale February 13 at noon.

Foreigner, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has sold more than 80 million records worldwide and remains one of the most commercially successful rock acts of all time. Their catalog continues to generate millions of weekly streams nearly five decades after the band first formed.
Greenwood’s appearance at opening night represents more than a ceremonial visit. It underscores how deeply the band’s legacy continues to resonate—now expanding beyond arenas and radio into live theater.
