During a recent interview with SiriusXM, Ty Simpson explained the best advice he’s gotten from his father.

He always used to say that to me,” Simpson said. “Be humble but have a swagger about yourself to where you’re always appreciative, always wanting to learn, always wanting to grow every which way. Also know that you’re the biggest, baddest dude in the room. You became the biggest, baddest dude in the room because you’re humble.”
Simpson recalls how long he’s heard that phrase from his father and even how it’s still a part of their relationship today.
“I remember him telling me that ever since I was in elementary school. I remember him telling that to his team. I remember him telling that to his quarterbacks,” Simpson said. “It started just in basketball, baseball, football. To this day, he’ll send me a text before each game ‘humble with a swagger’.”
Last season, Simpson lived up to that moniker with 33 total touchdowns (28 passing, 5 rushing) en route to guiding Alabama to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. Simpson is being regarded by draft gurus as a first-round pick. Regardless of who drafts him, Simpson already knows the mentality he’s bringing into the league.
