Pakistan cricket team star Sahibzada Farhan has promised that the team will play against India with a very different mindset when the two sides meet in Colombo on February 15. The much-awaited contest between the arch-rivals is all set to take place as per schedule after the Pakistan government on Monday directed its players to take the field in the game against India. Farhan, along with teammate Usman Tariq are confident of giving India a good contest and have fired warnings to Suryakumar Yadav and co. ahead of the IND vs PAK tie.
‘We’ll play with different mindset’
Speaking to reporters after Pakistan’s win against the USA, Farhan claimed that the upcoming contest against India wasn’t a big deal, adding that Pakistan were quite confident since they have won two matches and are on top of the table in Group A. The opener, who was named the Player of the Match for his 73-run knock, said that the side had faced India in the past and will approach the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 game with a different mindset.
“See, when you win two matches and are at the top of the table, you feel confident. The upcoming match is not such a big deal, we’re not playing against them for the first time. We’ve played before and this time we’ll play with a different mindset. You’ve seen us in the shake-up. You must have seen our struggle in the middle. You must have seen that Shadaab is making run, Nawaz is scoring runs. So hopefully you will enjoy our game against them,” Farhan said.
‘Extra pressure on India’
Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq believes that there will be extra pressure on the Indian batters in terms of facing him. The spinner, whose bowling action has been questioned in the recent past, bagged 3 wickets and conceded 27 runs in his 4-over spell against the USA. Usman responded to a question on the chatter among the Indian fans over his action and claimed that he was simply focused on the game and not on the outside noise.
“I guess, there will be extra pressure on them. Because, the way they’re discussing these things, I think, if they’re just discussing it in that sense, meaning, they’re just objecting on that, it shows that, maybe, there will be extra pressure on them. But, I don’t know about it. I’m really focusing on my games. I don’t have any idea what’s going around in the media and stuff. It’s a simple thing that I’m just focusing on my cricket and practice,” Usman said.
