Dodgers invite 32 non-roster players to spring training, including top prospects

The Dodgers have invited 32 non-roster players to major-league spring training this year, including 11 players with major-league experience and some of their top prospects.

Pitchers and catchers report on Thursday, with the first workout scheduled for Friday. The full squad reports next Monday (Feb. 16) with the first full-squad workout on Feb. 17.

The 11 players with major-league experience include pitchers Cole Irvin, Ryder Ryan (older brother of pitching prospect River Ryan), Garrett McDaniels (a Rule 5 pick returned to the Dodgers after 10 appearances with the Angels last season), Jordan Weems (144 MLB appearances with four teams), Carlos Duran and Wyatt Mills. Catchers Chuckie Robinson and Seby Zavala as well as infielders Ryan Fitzgerald and Nick Senzel and outfielder Matt Gorski also have major-league experience.

The Dodgers’ clutch of outfield prospects, including Josue DePaula and Zyhir Hope (both in Baseball America’s Top 100 preseason list), are also represented. Kendall George (who stole 100 bases with Class-A Great Lakes last season) and the two prospects acquired from the Boston Red Sox in a trade for Dustin May last July (James Tibbs III and Zach Ehrhard) are also invited.
