Woman fatally shot inside West Ridge home identified as city of Chicago OEMC employee

A woman who was shot to death inside a home in the West Ridge neighborhood on Friday morning worked for Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, a spokeswoman said.

Da’J Flowers served as a senior administrative assistant for the agency, according to OEMC spokeswoman Mary May.

    Flowers previously worked for the Chicago Department of Public Health and had been assigned to OEMC’s Investigations division.

    The 36-year-old was found unresponsive at approximately 9 a.m. Friday inside her home along North Bell Avenue near West Farwell Avenue, Chicago police previously said. Flowers had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen.

    She was pronounced dead at the scene.

    As of Saturday afternoon, it was unclear if police had identified any potential suspects.
