The La Mesa Police Department was at Helix Charter High School on Friday morning, following up on a reported threat made to the school.
As of approximately 11 a.m., students and school staff were inside rooms with doors locked. The school reported that daily instruction was continuing as police looked into the threat. Police were reportedly still at the scene as of 12:40 p.m.
Helix Charter High School Community Relations and Engagement Coordinator Lauren Knuth told La Mesa Courier, “We received an anonymous threat this morning. We have heard multiple schools received a similar threat. The LMPD is here and working on it, and we will give an update ASAP.”
Anyone not already on campus was asked to avoid the area until further notice.
