Former Auburn center Dylan Cardwell has made the absolute most of his opportunity with the Sacramento Kings, and the organization rewarded him for his efforts on Thursday.
According to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Kings and Cardwell have agreed to a 4-year contract that includes 2 guaranteed seasons. Cardwell initially signed a 2-way contract with the Kings back in July.
In 25 appearances for the Kings this season, Cardwell has averaged 4.7 points with 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 20 minutes a night.
He made his first career start on Nov. 1, but did not appear in a game again for the Kings until Dec. 18. Since Jan. 6, Cardwell has made himself indispensable in the Kings’ frontcourt, appearing in every game. He has played at least 20 minutes in 10 of his last 12 appearances.
In 14 January games, Cardwell averaged 5.2 points and 8.5 rebounds with 1.3 assists and 1.6 blocks. In 2 February games thus far, he has scored 10 points with 13 rebounds and 4 blocks in 46 minutes.
Cardwell spent 5 seasons at Auburn, where he appeared in 166 games with 40 career starts. The 6-11 center started all 38 games during the 2024-25 season when the Tigers went 32-6 and advanced to the school’s second-ever Final Four.
