Tommaso Cioni Returned Nancy Guthrie Home ‘Safely’ Before She Vanished, Sheriff Says

The search for Nancy Guthrie is on day five and the Pima County Sheriff's Department hasn't shared too many updates with the public. At the time of this writing, there have been no suspects named in the case and no arrests made in the connection with Nancy's disappearance.

Police say that the 84-year-old mother of three (daughters Annie and Savannah Guthrie and son Charles "Camron" Guthrie) was taken from her Arizona home in the middle of the night, sometime between 9:45 p.m. local time on Saturday, January 31 and 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 1. Concerns began when Nancy didn't show up to church service on Sunday morning.

Initial information from the Pima County Sheriff's Office indicated that Nancy had dinner with her daughter Annie on Saturday night and was dropped off at her home around 9:30 p.m. local time. Now, however, there has been an update.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has confirmed that it was Annie's husband, Tommaso Cioni, who dropped Nancy off at home on Saturday night. Nanos told The New York Times that Cioni drove Nancy home after dinner and made her she was "safely" inside before leaving.

Neither Annie nor her husband have spoken publicly about the time they spent with Nancy on Saturday night. Annie appeared next to her siblings in an emotional video shared on social media on Wednesday, Feb. 4, during which they pleaded with possible kidnappers in hopes of finding their mom.

Cioni was seen in public a handful of times this week, once driving a car with Annie in the passenger's seat, and again at his home, just a few miles away from Nancy's home, when the FBI showed up on Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to photos posted by TMZ.
