The Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena will continue to be held on Jan. 1 while hosting the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, Tournament and CFB officials announced on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
“The Pasadena Tournament of Roses is excited to serve as a quarterfinal for the next two years as part of the 12-team College Football Playoff,” according to a statement from the Tournament.

Under the schedule, the next two seasons look like the following:
2026-27
CFP Quarterfinals
Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2026, at the Vrbo Fiesta BowlFriday, Jan. 1, 2027, at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential
CFP Semifinals
Jan. 14, 2027, at the Capital One Orange BowlJan. 15, 2027, at the Allstate Sugar Bowl
2027-28
CFP Quarterfinals

“These dates allow us to maintain competitive balance, maximize the fan experience, and provide consistency for everyone involved in the Playoff,” said Rich Clark, Executive Director of the CFP. “I also want to thank our bowl partners and their local communities for the incredible work, collaboration, and commitment they’ve shown throughout the first two years of the expanded playoff.”
Tournament of Roses officials also noted the ability to continue presenting the game on Jan. 1, in conjunction with the Rose Parade.
“The ability to continue to hold the Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day is important to us and we appreciate the flexibility of the CFP and the other CFP bowl games to allow for us to continue our January 1 tradition,” according to a statement from the Tournament of Roses.
